Brothers and Sisters,

On Tuesday, October 13, at 3:00 PM, members of our community will be gathering in downtown Ithaca to stand in solidarity with Jane Doe and demand accountability from Cornell University regarding its handling of the allegations involving seven fraternity members.

As the union representing thousands of workers throughout our community, including those at Cornell University, we understand the importance of standing together when people feel their voices are not being heard.

This is about more than one case. It's about accountability, protecting our community, and making sure that no one feels their voice matters less because of someone else's power, money, or position.

I'm asking any members who are able to come out and show their support. Jane Doe deserves to know that this community stands behind her.

Rally Information:

Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026

Time: 3:00 PM

Location: 100 N. Tioga Street, Ithaca, NY 14850

There will be guest speakers, an opportunity to leave messages of support for Jane Doe, and a community rally.

Important: Members attending must follow their normal workplace attendance policies and all applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. This is not a call for a walkout or work stoppage. Please arrange approved time off if you are scheduled to work.

Solidarity means standing together, especially when someone needs us most.

In Solidarity,

John Tavares

President, UAW Local 2300
