Re: Strike Pay 1099 IRS Form

Dear Sisters, Brothers, Siblings:

I hope all had a restful break - that the holidays provided much cheer and that 2025 is good to us all.

As tax time is rapidly approaching, we want to provide you with some important information. As you know, when we signed up for strike pay through the strike portal in August 2024, we were informed that we would receive a 1099 for tax reporting purposes. The 1099 will show reportable income that must be claimed in your reporting of income taxes for 2024. The 1099 will be available digitally through the Strike Portal that you signed up for prior to the strike. Per the International UAW - hardcopies of the 1099 will be issued by Solidarity House in Detroit on or after January 31, 2025 for those who request them

From the International UAW Auditing and Strike Assistance Department:

The process to request a printed 1099 (if they opted to have it delivered electronically) by U.S. Postal mail is as follows: the member must request, in writing, a "Withdrawal of electronic consent - 1099 form" (include your name and address) and mail it to -

International Union, UAW

It may be less time consuming for those who forgot their logins and/or passwords to visit the Strike Portal and click the "I forgot my login" or "I forgot my password" link. Please have them visit the Strike Portal at:

Please be sure to collect the 1099 before you file your 2024 Federal and State income taxes. Call the Local 2300 office at (607)-272-4108 or email uawlocal2300@gmail.com with questions or for assistance.

In solidarity,

Christine
