Dear SSA Siblings,
We met with Library Management today March 20th, from 9am-5pm at the Library.
Management Representatives: Emerson Demeester-Lane (Director), Kathy Weinberg (Library Board of Trustees), Laura Krauss (Library Board of Trustees Treasurer)
Association Representatives: Mitchell Hall, Katylyn Hulbert, Sam MacQueen, Shelby Buche, John Tavares (Local 2300 President), Chauncey Bennett (Local 2300 1st Vice President), Lonnie Everett (Region 9 Servicing Representative)
During today's inaugural bargaining session, we began by negotiating and agreeing to ground rules.
We passed our first proposals across the table, and after several productive caucuses and meetings with management throughout the day, we reached a tentative agreement on 7 proposals:
- Allowing request for extension of initial grievance filing
- Codifying language for use of sick time during probationary periods
- Clarifying and expanding healthcare coverage for retirees
- Clarifying language for rest periods
- New and updated language to match recently negotiated Professional Staff CBA
- Clarifying paid time for union business including membership meetings (during and outside of negotiations)
- Allowing an association member to attend monthly Board of Trustee meetings without loss of pay
- Clarifying current timekeeping practices
We also passed across the table proposals regarding Section 32. Discharge and Discipline, Emergency Closings, ADA accommodations, Civil Service language, AI implementation and job security.
Our next negotiation date is scheduled for next Friday, March 27th from 3-5pm.
In Solidarity,
