TCAT BARGAINING BEGINS!

December 11, 2024

Sisters, Brothers, Siblings,

Today the UAW 2300 TCAT Bargaining Team met with TCAT management to kick off our negotiations. After discussing the general priorities of the Membership: work/life balance, staff recruiting and retention, Health and Safety, and the condition of the equipment we use every day; TCAT acknowledged the legitimacy of our priorities. Management said they value the members’ sacrifices and want to support the workers at TCAT. Then they explained in general how funding works at TCAT; percentages of federal, state, and Cornell funding, and the challenges in meeting operational expenses. Did you know that Cornell penalizes TCAT for operating hours missed due to driver shortages and buses that are not working?

We handed over 11 initial non-economic demands for consideration by TCAT management.

Full weeks are scheduled next for early January through the Tentative Agreement. Between now and the next bargaining session, we need your help! A second round of surveys is coming out. If you did not answer the first survey, you will have another opportunity. If you have a coworker who is not signed up for updates, please help them sign up through the QR code or link - make sure you opt-in for text messages! Building solid communications and building our solidarity through member engagement will ensure the strongest contract. Sign up and opt-in – It’s your contract!

In solidarity,

UAW Local 2300 TCAT Bargaining Committee
