Service Center Negotiations!

Hello Siblings,

Today, 10/14/26, was the first day of negotiating for the Service Center at Cornell.
These members passed an NLRB vote to join our union on July 8 th , and we are now
negotiating adding them to our contract.

We passed a total of six proposals, some of which were clerical. We then passed
language about scheduling needs, clothing and shoe allowances, and wages. Based on
how inaccurate the job description is currently, and how many duties are completely
outside the job description in both quantity of work and skill required, we proposed
adding them as S-13’s!

The University came back with only a verbal response (no official proposal) and implied
that an SO-02 wage rate would be an increase for some and was closer to reality. This
was clearly an insultingly low ball verbal proposal. This is likely because the vast
majority of those on the University’s bargaining team have NO IDEA what these jobs
actually entail!

Our next negotiation session for this group is on 10/28/26!

In Solidarity,
Service Center Bargaining Team
