The UAW Education Department will host its annual Education Committee Conference from June 11-16, 2023. The conference will be held at The Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center in Onaway, Michigan. This conference is for members serving on their local union’s education committee, and those who wish to start an education committee at their local. Delegates will learn how to run their committee and build skills for presenting workshops at their local. We are offering two tracks: one for new delegates to the conference, and a second for returning delegates. New delegates will participate in workshops covering such topics as adult learning styles, how to use visual aids and media, strategic planning to grow committees, and facilitation techniques. Returning delegates will participate in workshops that will build upon the skills they learned during their previous education conference. Workshops will hone facilitation skills while providing practice teaching opportunities in workshops that should be taught at their local union. After successfully completing the workshops, delegates will be granted access to the Education Department’s curriculum kits to use at their local union.
